Kakanin Galore at the Banilad Town Center

One Sunday I went to Banilad Town Center to check out some shoes, but I ended up buying some delicious kakanin from Betty's Kakanin.  Betty's Kakanin offers some of the best kakanin in the city.  The delicacy stall also some fresh green leafy vegetables and a host of delicious locally made delicacies.

If you want to go healthy, this is one good place to buy your vegetables like lettuce and pechay. I wanted to buy some for the house, but I decided to just get some kakanin instead.  Here are some of the delicacies that Betty's Kakanin offer:

Pichi Pichi - Sweet cassava balls covered with desiccated coconut are a reminder of how enjoyable the local delicacies are. Pichi-Pichi has been one of my favorite local snacks since childhood.

Masi - Masi or sticky rice balls with peanut filling is another treat that I enjoy eating throughout the year.

Nilusak- This treat is made by pounding banana then adding sugar and coconut. My yaya in Bohol used to make one of the best nilusak.  We usually make this when some of our relatives bring bananas during the fiesta season.

Dynamite Spring rolls - This finger food made of long green chilies in a crispy lumpia wrapper has been gaining popularity among lovers of hot food. It is crispy and spicy.  Dynamite spring rolls go so well with rice or beer.

Puto Cheese - This colorful and chewy sweet delicacy is something that only a few Filipinos can resist. I actually prefer eating this over chocolate cupcakes.

In the end, I ended up buying some dynamite spring rolls, masi, and maja blanca.  The yummy delicacies from Betty's Kakanin did not disappoint as the flavors were spot on. The unexpected discovery thought me a good place to buy some of the best kakanin in the city.
